1/23/2012 - Young Man Made Honorary Police Officer
A young cancer survivor was sworn in as an honorary police officer by Weslaco Municipal Judge Carlos Garza on Monday. Chief Michael Kelley and other Weslaco officers showed Regino Gonzalez what is involved in being a city police officer. He was allowed to utilize a Glock handgun to do some target shooting at the department`s shooting range. 1/3/2012 - City to Purchase Chevrolet Tahoes for Police Department
The City of Weslaco will purchase 9 brand new Chevrolet Tahoe patrol cars, fully equipped, for the Police Department. These will help replace the aging Ford Crown Victoria sedans that have outlived their usefulness. The almost $400,000 purchase will be financed with a recent "tax notes" bond, most of which will be used to start improvements to the city`s water plant.
