Some of the felony arrests were On August 23, Weslaco Police arrested Rodolfo Sarmiento, age 39, for making a false report to a police officer. Originally, Sarmiento advised police that he had been robbed at gunpoint of his Pontiace Grand Am. This was supposed to have occurred at 149 N. Texas, on August 14. Sarmiento had stated he had a large screen TV and a laptop computer inside the car when it was taken. In reality, there was no robbery, no robber, and no Grand Am. It was all a ruse to justify his not being able to pay for the electronics items he had bought on credit from a local "rent to own" business. Sarmiento was taken to county jail on misdemeanor charges.
